Walking

West Coast countryside is among the most beautiful in the British Isles, and here you'll find more than enough routes to satisfy the demands of the most ardent walkers.

Whether it's a short walk up to Dunskey Castle to take in the breath-taking views across the Irish Sea or a meander through the Glens of the Dunskey Estate, there are some lovely short walks and, for the more adventurous, Portpatrick is the start of the Southern Upland Way which offers some more challenging but no less picturesque walks up the coast and beyond.

Fishing

For fans of fishing there are charter boats available from the harbour side by arrangement. There's also fresh water fishing available on the Dunskey Estate for both Rainbow and Brown trout. (Tuition is also available)

Golfing

With two golf courses, Portpatrick Golf Club and Lagganmore Golf Club in Portpatrick itself (as well as the par 3 ‘Dinvin’ course at the Portpatrick Golf Club) and many others within driving distance, including the world famous Turnberry Golf Hotel and Spa (45 mins (approx) by car), Portpatrick serves as a great base for a golfing holiday for all standards and ages.
